The Great Chinook Lodge
The Great Chinook Lodge is located in Gustavus, Alaska and is one of my favorite spots. It is owned by my college pole vault coach and long time friend, Larry Berryhill. The site launched in April, 2007.
The goal was to bring a smart, readable, and beautiful design to fishing fans everywhere - while providing a clear, easy to use, immediately understandable, and fun web management experience for Larry.
All of the site's content was made editable through AssetNow content management system - giving Larry and his team full control over editing and updating the site's content going forward.
I developed a new widget that pulls pictures from Larry's Flickr account , keeping all photos on the Great Chinook's web-site in sync. Now Larry's crew can upload pictures from a digital camera and have Flickr do all the technical work (thumbnails, resized images, slide show).
In addition, Google Maps was integrated into the design showing satellite views of Gustavus, potential fishing spots, and Glacier Bay National Park.
While the scope of this project was rather small, I feel Larry is in a good position to maintain a beautiful web-site full of pictures, recipies, and the wonderful stories he is so good at telling and we all love to hear.
