The Alaska Society for Technology in Education
The Alaska Society for Technology in Education (ASTE) has been in existence for almost 25 years and came equipped with a long digital history. The ASTE web-site had been managed by several developers over the years and was eventually assigned to me, a board member.
ASTE is a volunteer organization run by teachers and administrators that are widely spaced throughout Alaska. Each board member assumes responsibilities including, but not limited to: user registration, courting vendors, finding speakers, asking for presenters, organizing classes, finances, and the annual iDidaMovie and iDidaPhoto contests.
ASTE needed a solution where multiple individuals could publish content to the web through an approval process, while maintaining a consistent look and feel from page to page.
Using AssetNow content management system I was able to create users and groups, assign privileges to indivisual members, structure an approval system, and build custom designed templates, logo, and menus.
ASTE is once again in control of their digital content, and I feel confident they will influence teachers to integrate technology into the classroom for a very long time to come.
