The North Slope Borough School District is where I was employed full-time for 7 years. Each day time was dedicated to building, managing, and helping fellow collegues contribute content to the district and school web-sites.

The district supports 11 schools bordered by the foothills of the Brooks Range to the south and the Arctic Ocean to the north, and encompasses 89,000 square miles, an area the size of Minnesota.

The district web-site came with a long digital history, and eventually converted to a database driven content management system (CMS) called AssetNow . Several custom modules were created that plug-in to the CMS and authenticates against the district's active directory. The list of custom applications include, but are not limited to: intranet, teacher employment, computer inventory, and tech support ticket system.

Currently the district web-site is being managed by the new technology coordinator, and he has decided to reduce it to Apple's iWeb - oh, well.
