When Fish Fly
On a recent trip from Barrow to Anchorage, Alaska I was able to catch a ride on the "salmon 30 salmon". This has got to be the most unique paint job for a passenger jet ever, and was brilliant against the white tundra.

I met the pilot out on the frozen tarmac and he offered to take my photo.

On the leg from Fairbanks to Anchorage a path was flown between Denali (20,320 ft) and Mount Foraker (17,400 ft). The pilot turned left and right to give us a better view. I've flown over this mountain many times, but this was the closest I've been in a passenger jet.

The purpose of the trip was a retreat for the Alaska Society for Technology in Education. We outlined next year's conference, planned events, contests, sorted finances, and worked on the web-site. Tori was able to join me for the weekend and we shopped, relaxed, ate at a few restaurants, and went to the movies. It was the first time we've been away from our children for more than a night.
